Description: Explore on-loom and off-loom warp painting using fabric paints - a direct and spontaneous method of applying color to yarn that can be used for functional or non-functional pieces. You'll learn Kathie's method of painting a warp off loom which ensures that your threads are evenly spaced and under tension for the best results. She'll also provide you with a warp to dress your loom with prior to the workshop so that you can experiment with various methods of on-loom warp painting. You'll leave with an on-loom warp painted weaving, an off-loom painted warp to weave at home, and a new skills to add color to your handwovens!
A life long maker, Kathie Roig began weaving in 1980. Working for a professional weaver gave her the confidence to pursue her own work under the name KMR Handwoven. She has been explorating warp painting using fabric paints since 2009 when she asked herself, “what if”.
